Wuquf | Classical Text Preservation

A vast repository of human knowledge remains locked within untranslated classical texts. These works, often preserved in fading manuscripts, hold insights that are vital for our contemporary understanding of history, philosophy, and spirituality.

Inspired by the vision of scholars who have highlighted the urgency of this task—including Dr. Samir during his work at Cambridge Muslim College—Wuquf is a small part of a larger effort to ensure this intellectual inheritance is not lost to time.

The Core Project

We believe that for a tradition to stay alive, it must be continuously engaged with. Our mission focuses on three critical pillars:

Digitize Bringing physical manuscripts into the digital realm where they can be accessed globally and preserved against physical decay.
Transcribe Leveraging human expertise and computational tools to convert intricate scripts into searchable, machine-readable text.
Re-interpret Engaging deeply with the content to provide modern context, ensuring these works continue to speak to contemporary challenges.
